This reference is to confirm that John Hedley of Apex Roofing and Property Services Pty Ltd. have recently completed slate roof repairs at my property in Clifton Hill.

The work involved:

• the re-setting and re-pointing of terracotta ridge tiles
• the relaying and re-nailing, where necessary of original Welsh slates
• the installation of a new 15M (approx) Zincalum box gutter and the re=setting of 2 and in some places 3 rows of slates to ensure a sound and waterproof up turn for the gutter. This also involved the installation of flashing into the adjoining brick parapet wall
• the installation of a new Zincalum skillion roof over the rear portion of the house, including the installation of insulation batts and insulated sarking
• the replacement of rotten weatherboards and re-fixing of the associated eaves gutter.

I have found John’s work of a very high standard in a field (roof slating) where there is a general absence of skills in Melbourne. The completed job is very pleasing and I can commend them on their demeanour, general tidiness and management of the job.
